Vital Start Nutrition
Supporting families through the first 1000 days — from fertility and preconception, through pregnancy and postpartum, and into infancy and toddlerhood — with expert, evidence-based nutrition care. Together, we can improve the health of future generations.
The First 1000 Days
Fertility & Preconception
The first thousand days typically refers to pregnancy and the first couple of years of a child’s life. However emerging research now highlights the importance of the six months leading up to conception. The health and lifestyle of both parents during this preconception period, when egg and sperm quality are being shaped, can significantly influence the future baby’s health and development. So whether you're struggling to conceive or simply want to give your future baby the healthiest start, we offer tailored nutrition support to optimise fertility and prepare your body for pregnancy.
Pregnancy
From managing pregnancy symptoms and complications to fuelling your body for birth and breastfeeding, we provide practical, balanced nutrition guidance to support you and your growing baby every step of the way.
Postpartum
Your body needs the right nourishment to support its recovery after birth, fuel breastmilk production, and provide the energy you need to care for your baby and yourself during the fourth trimester. We are here to help!
Infancy
Around 6 months, babies begin the journey from breastmilk or formula to family foods. It’s a time to explore new tastes, textures, and foods, while also safely introducing common food allergens. It’s also a critical window to help prevent micronutrient deficiencies, such as iron and vitamin B12. We’re here to provide evidence-based, practical support every step of the way.
Toddlerhood
As little ones grow, so can fussy eating behaviours. Creating a positive mealtime environment and offering a variety of nutritious foods helps support healthy habits. While some fussiness is normal, others may experience more complex feeding challenges, like sensory aversions or delayed oral motor skills. We can provide proven, practical advice to navigate this stage with confidence (and less stress).
